The Two Lights
Zephyrin Hazzan is a Grand Prince of the Aurionic Empire, the son of Emperor Jalil Hazzan and Juliette Beauregard.
To his family, he is the Westwind—restless, swift, and ever-moving. To the Auroreline people, he represents change, the subtle force that stirs beneath stillness. To the Emperor, his name reflects something more elusive: the whispers carried across the world, unseen yet shaping all things.
He is not yet a ruler.
He is a direction.
Born on Zenith 22, 87 AH, in the Hazzan Kingdom, Zephyrin Hazzan stands as one of the youngest yet most symbolically charged heirs of the Aurionic Empire. Bearing titles such as Lord of the Westwind and Young Lord of Whispers, he is a child shaped by movement, duality, and the unseen currents that pass through the Empire.
Where others inherit power,
Zephyrin inherits possibility.
Zephyrin was born into a world already unified under imperial rule.
Unlike his elder siblings, he did not witness conquest—only its aftermath. The Empire he knows is vast, ordered, and alive with competing influences drawn from its many kingdoms.
Within the Palace of the Two Lights, he is a force of energy—quick to move, quick to speak, and often quicker to escape the rigid structure of his education. He is known to evade lessons in favor of running through its halls, turning the grandeur of the court into his own domain of play.
Yet beneath this restless spirit lies intention.
He is being raised not as a warrior, nor as a king—
but as something quieter.
Zephyrin’s identity is defined by motion.
His name carries layered meaning:
To his lineage, he is the wind that moves unseen
To Auroreline, he is the breath of change
To the Emperor, he is the whisper that travels farther than any voice
This symbolism is not incidental.
It is a path.
He is being prepared to one day serve as a steward of whispers—one who understands the subtle forces that shape the Empire beyond what is spoken aloud.
Within the palace, Zephyrin belongs to a group known as the Solar Sparks—children between the ages of nine and twelve who are undergoing foundational training.
This group represents energy and potential, a stage between play and purpose. Their education includes:
The Seven Arts
Early historical and linguistic study
Physical training under the Sun Guard
They are not yet burdened with governance or philosophy, but they are no longer shielded by childhood alone.
Among them, Zephyrin is one of the most spirited.
It is often said within the court that if footsteps echo through the Beauregard Promenade, it is a Spark escaping discipline.
Zephyrin is also counted among the Dawn-Heirs—the children of Juliette Beauregard.
This distinction carries a different weight.
Where the Solar Sparks are defined by energy, the Dawn-Heirs are defined by expectation. They are held to a higher standard of refinement, their speech and bearing shaped by the legacy of Auroreline culture.
Yet this distinction comes with scrutiny.
Their heritage places them under closer watch, particularly within the rigid structure of imperial law. Zephyrin, though young, exists within this tension—between elegance and suspicion, between legacy and loyalty.
Zephyrin is taught to follow Aurion, the Lord of the Light, as is expected of all within the imperial household.
Yet his upbringing is not singular.
Through quiet guidance, he is also introduced to the memory of Aurah, the Lady of the Dawn. This knowledge is not openly practiced, but subtly preserved—woven into his understanding of the world without drawing the gaze of authority.
Thus, even in faith, Zephyrin embodies duality.
Light and dawn.
Order and memory.
He does not yet choose between them.
Zephyrin is lively, curious, and difficult to contain.
He resists stillness, both in body and in thought, often seeking movement where others accept structure. Yet this restlessness is not without purpose—it reflects an intuitive connection to the unseen patterns around him.
He listens, even when he appears distracted.
He observes, even when he seems to play.
He values:
Freedom of movement
Curiosity over discipline
Experience over instruction
In him, chaos and awareness exist side by side.
Zephyrin Hazzan represents a future not yet defined:
the quiet power of what moves unseen.
He is not the strongest of his siblings.
Nor the most disciplined.
Nor the most prepared.
But he may become something else entirely.
If others are shaped to rule the Empire,
Zephyrin is being shaped to understand it—
in the spaces between words,
in the currents beneath power,
in the whispers carried on the wind.
And in an empire built on conquest and control,
it may be the one who listens—
not the one who commands—
who changes everything.
