Nyx von Nottgard,

Princesss of Nottgard Kingdom

Priestess of Vetr • Seeress of the Night

Overview

Nyx von Nottgard is the daughter of King Alaric and Queen Sigrid, and is revered across Nottgard as a Spákona—a seeress touched by the will of Vetr, Lord of the Night.

From her earliest years, she has been set apart from the path of noble daughters. While others are prepared for marriage and alliance, Nyx has been consecrated to something far older and far more enduring.

To her people, she is not merely royal.

She is sacred.

Biography

Birth and Lineage

Born on Nox 7, 85 AH, beneath an omen of Vetr in the sacred month of night, Nyx von Nottgard entered the world not as a child of chance—but as a sign.

Where others are taught the will of the gods,

Nyx is believed to hear it.

Early Life

Nyx’s birth was marked by divine timing.

Born in the month of Nox, on a day aligned with Vetr, her arrival was seen as an omen—one that confirmed the presence of the Night’s favor upon the House of Nottgard.

As she grew, that belief only deepened.

Her visions came not as lessons, but as truths unbidden, unclear, and unavoidable.

These visions shaped her identity and her role, leading her to reject the path of political marriage in favor of spiritual devotion.

Nyx does not belong to a man.

She belongs to the Night.

The Spákona

Nyx’s primary title—Spákona—marks her as a seeress of the highest order.

But among her people, she is known by many names, each reflecting a different aspect of her connection to Vetr:

  • ᛊᛗᚨᚺᚲᚹᚨᚾᛟ (Spah-kwanō) — Seeress

  • ᚾᚨᚺᛏᚨᚲᚹᛖᚾᛁᛉ (Nahta-kwēniz) — Night Queen

  • ᛗᛖᚾᚨᚾᚷᚨᛊᛏᛁᛉ (Mēnan-gastiz) — Moon Spirit

These are not titles of power.

They are acknowledgments of presence—of something within her that others do not possess.

The Vision of the Star

Nyx’s most profound vision centers not on herself—but on her sister.

At four years old, while watching Hilde train in the snow, Nyx spoke a name: Sternōmawī.

To Hilde, it meant beauty.

To Nyx, it was truth.

She saw what others could not:

  • The Guardian of the Star

  • The Maiden of the Fixed Light

  • The one who will stand between what is chosen… and what is coming

Years later, she would speak words that carried the weight of prophecy:

"Fight well, my Sternōmawī. One day, the stars will fall, and you will be the only one strong enough to catch them."

Nyx does not explain her visions.

She simply speaks them.

Keeper of the Old Ways

As her sister Hilde is sent into the orbit of the Aurionic Empire, Nyx remains behind.

Where Hilde becomes a bridge to the Light,

Nyx becomes the anchor of the Night.

She preserves:

  • The traditions of Nottgard

  • The faith of Vetr

  • The quiet, enduring strength of the North

She is not meant to rule in the way of kings or queens.

She is meant to remember.

The Curious Child

Despite her sacred role, Nyx remains a child of curiosity.

She forms an unexpected bond with Zephyrin Hazzan, whose restless spirit contrasts her quiet, watchful nature. Their connection is one of intrigue rather than strategy—a meeting of wind and shadow.

Yet even this innocence carries tension.

Her mother, Sigrid, fears that such a bond may one day be turned into a political design—one that would pull Nyx away from the path she has chosen.

Faith of the Night

Nyx is wholly devoted to Vetr, Lord of the Night.

Her faith is not practiced through ritual alone, but through perception—through visions, symbols, and silence. She does not seek to interpret the will of the Night.

She receives it.

Legacy

Nyx von Nottgard is not a ruler, nor a warrior, nor a diplomat.

She is something rarer.

A voice.

A child who speaks of things not yet seen.

A vessel for a god who does not shout, but whispers.

A keeper of truths that others are not ready to hear.

While others shape the world through power,

Nyx watches it through vision.

And when the moment comes—

when prophecy and reality finally meet—

It will not be her strength that changes the world.

It will be the fact that

she already knew it would.
