Regent of Maurim Kingdom

Lord of House Walid • Prince of Maurim

Overview

Rodrigo Walid serves as Regent of the Maurim Kingdom under the Aurionic Empire, ruling in the name of imperial authority while maintaining the legacy of House Walid.

A prince by birth and a strategist by necessity, Rodrigo represents the survival instinct of a conquered kingdom. He does not oppose the Empire openly—he works within it, shaping its outcomes to secure the future of his house and his people.

To Maurim, he is stability.

To the court, he is suspicion.

To himself, he is inevitability.

Biography

Birth and Lineage

Born on Floralis 5, 30 AH, in the Maurim Kingdom, Rodrigo Walid stands as one of the most calculating and controversial figures within the Aurionic Empire. Bearing titles such as Regent of Maurim and Lord of House Walid, he is a man who rose to power not through inheritance—but through ambition, precision, and blood.

Where others inherit crowns,

Rodrigo claims control.

Early Life

Rodrigo was born into the ruling bloodline of Maurim, the son of King Omar Walid and Queen Jacinta Walid.

Raised alongside his elder brother Hassan Walid, Rodrigo came of age during a time of relentless warfare between Maurim and the Hazzan Kingdom. Their family’s rule was forged in conflict, marked by cycles of vengeance and succession that shaped both brothers into leaders hardened by necessity.

When their father fell in war, Hassan ascended the throne in 46 AH, and Rodrigo became his closest advisor and counterpart in governance.

Together, they stabilized the kingdom—

but peace never truly came.

The Age of War

Rodrigo’s life was defined by generational conflict.

The wars between Maurim and Hazzan were not singular battles, but a chain of retaliations that defined the era. Each ruler’s rise was tied to the fall of another, creating a cycle of blood that neither kingdom could escape.

Within this environment, Rodrigo learned a critical truth:

Victory is never permanent.

Only positioning is.

While Hassan ruled as king, Rodrigo observed, calculated, and prepared—understanding that survival required more than strength.

It required foresight.

The Fall of Maurim’s Crown

In 79 AH, the balance of power shifted irreversibly.

Jalil Hazzan rose to the throne and swiftly dismantled the Maurim Kingdom through decisive military conquest. Within months, Maurim’s independence was lost, and its royal house was forced into submission.

Rodrigo watched as his brother’s rule collapsed, and with it, the sovereignty of their people.

Hassan was allowed to remain in power as Regent under the new imperial order.

But for Rodrigo, this was not enough.

The Seizure of Power

Rodrigo believed that Maurim’s fall was not inevitable—it was the result of failure.

And failure could not be allowed to persist.

He began to position himself for control, seeking to replace his brother as Regent. When his attempts were denied, he chose a different path—one that would define his legacy.

In Floralis 7, 80 AH, Hassan Walid was assassinated.

The act was orchestrated by Rodrigo.

In the aftermath, he controlled the narrative, directing blame toward an external enemy and ensuring swift retribution. Those accused were executed, and the illusion of justice was preserved.

Soon after, Rodrigo assumed the role of Regent of Maurim.

He did not inherit the position.

He removed the obstacle.

Regent of Maurim

As Regent, Rodrigo governs Maurim under the authority of the Aurionic Empire.

His rule is defined by careful alignment—balancing loyalty to imperial power with the preservation of Maurim’s internal strength. He understands that open defiance would mean destruction, but submission without control would mean irrelevance.

So he navigates between the two.

He ensures that Maurim remains:

  • Economically vital

  • Politically stable

  • Strategically necessary

His governance is not driven by ideology.

It is driven by survival.

Position within the Empire

By 96 AH, Rodrigo has secured his place within the imperial structure.

He maintains close collaboration with: Elena Walid and Obi Nwachim

Through these alliances, he reinforces Maurim’s influence within the Empire—ensuring that its voice is not lost beneath the dominance of Hazzan authority.

He does not challenge the Empire.

He ensures that Maurim remains indispensable to it.

Personality and Beliefs

Rodrigo Walid is ambitious, calculating, and unburdened by sentiment.

He does not hesitate when action is required, nor does he allow loyalty to outweigh necessity. To him, power is not a privilege—it is a responsibility that must be secured by any means.

He values:

  • Control above honor

  • Outcome above perception

  • Stability above morality

His devotion to Aurion is aligned with order and structure, but his true faith lies in survival—of his house, his lineage, and his influence.

Legacy

Rodrigo Walid represents a truth few are willing to admit:

Empires are not only built by conquerors—but by those who survive them.

He is not the hero of Maurim’s story, nor its villain.

He is its continuation.

If others lost their kingdoms,

Rodrigo ensured his was not erased—

only transformed.

And in a world where power shifts like the tide,

it is often not the strongest who endure—

but the ones willing to do what others will not.
